MMABay sat down for a very special EXCLUSIVE interview with K-1 World Grand-Prix champion, Alistair Overeem this afternoon to talk to him about the situation surrounding his mixed martial arts career. Not only does he address his recent axe from the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix but he tells us that if the UFC offer him a lucrative enough deal he’d love to walk away from all his other interests and immediately compete for the UFC heavyweight title.

@Illacistmusic However I see similarities to marciano and Fedor. Both smaller strong men, who came right- hand first. Fedor in my opinion is almost the Rocky Marciano of MMA. If Marciano had kept fighting, like Fedor currently is, the Marciano would’ve lost for sure. If those two were to fight, that would be awesome. Sambo vs OldSchool iron chinned, dynamite-handed, undefeated HW boxer. Id pay to see that anyday!

@Illacistmusic Haha true, and Joe Calzaghe, and probably Floyd Mayweather Jr when he retires. However when it comes to it, if Marciano had fought a Joe Louis in his prime, or had rematches with Ezzard Charles (who by far was more light HW than HW), Jersey Joe Walcott, or had been around a few more years to take on Sonny Liston, then I’m sure Marciano would have lost one of the final fights. Even Archie Moore would’ve feared better in another fight with the Brockton Blockhouse.

@JohnLawrenceCobraKai Yeah well they could’ve let Fedor hit him more for sure (Rogers). Fedor tried to explode off his back though against Dan and said he could handle Dan’s power, which isn’t a surprise as he has been fighting big men his entire career. I think Fedor could’ve easily kept going, he is a survivor for sure. Same with 3rd round against Bigfoot.

@z0neC0reeee Fedor lost to another great fighter. The stoppage was premature. But nonetheless, it doesn’t take away the fact Fedor is a very well rounded great fighter who has been more dominant than anyone else so far and remains to be fighting strong athletes in his field of MMA. It isn’t easy getting in there with the dudes he fights. And to remain so humble after everything shows you a true martial artist.

Overeem is 6’2 260lbs
Lesbar is 6’3 300lbs and a LOT faster than Overeem who obviously has no chin since he got KOd 11 times by UFC fighters who are below his weight class

Overeem is probably 6’2 (not 6’5 since i saw the staredown with werdum) and weighs 260lbs his chin is obviously terrible since he got his ass knocked out 11 times
Lesnar is 6’3 Lightning fast 300lbs athlete. Very Resilient.

And before the werdum fight, Overeem only fought guys that came from losses; duffee, rogers, fujita, thompson etc. All of them riding a losing streak.

@oldmanwhithers the only think I am all exited about right now is that the HW competition in UFC is descent for Overeem, the only 2 guys I think can beat Overeem is Dos Santos and Velasquez, and is just because their cardio, otherwise, Overeem is my pick
