UFC 137 Weigh-In: Kongo vs. Mitrione staredown

@CoolSebbe431 Actually Kongo could have some serious power if you put on even 15 pounds of muscle and weighing around 250lbs. Beleive it or not Kongo is probabally taller than Overeem. Overeem’sheight at 6’4″is exaggerated as he’s shorter than Werdum who’s often listed as 6’4″.  Kongo I think is a legit 6’4″. He’s taller than Mitrione, and is also a good 4 inches taller than Velasquez.

@Oreillyisthebest MItrione was staring at him for most of the fight. Kongo was quick and sneaked in some leg kicks which eventually won the fights.

Kongo could gain some more weight, he’s not even near the HW limit. He could be a beast..

how exactly did mitrione lose that fight? was it because the third round was a 10-8? to me it looked like kongo just ran for 2 rounds…while mitrione was pushing the pace….

matt seen how big kongo was and that spooked his ass for halloween . he looked cross that ring and changed his game plan .he never no what could have happen if he would have stood in the got dam paint.im still pist my boy BJ lost!!! he still one of the best in my book that reach got my boy.. for some reason i think george gunna get past it. not taken nothan from nick he did win..i thank gsp gotem superbowl weekend!!

this fight was pathetic. me n my friend were so bored. the 1st round they were sizin each other up for a full 5 minutes

@frosty7001 Kongo rocked Cain with that style, and he’s finished guys with his type of striking, I was surprised he didn’t take Mitrione down sooner. Cheick’s forte is his GNP, and Matt really didn’t have any kind of answer for him in the third round. He’s got promise like I said, but I don’t see him being a legitimate contender.

@frosty7001 Styles make fights fella, and Chieck Kongo has a certain style, he is a counter striker as you just mentioned and thats a strategy and for the most part it has worked for Mr Kongo. when he fough Frank Mir his style was not good for a fighter like Frank Mir who looks to get you outta there ASAP. If that fight with Mir would have lasted past 2 rounds Kongo would have won that fight but he takes too long to feel out his opponent, and that indecision causes problems for Mr Kongo.

@apocalypse123 “Kongo’s style is to back up and strike when his opponent leaves himself open” lol that is not much of a style it is just him pretty much running away from the fight until the other guy gets tired and thats not a fight. Matts striking is actually pretty good. Ofc it could be better but everybody could be better. All he needs to do is get good on the ground. He has everything else speed, strenth, and cardio
